Greetings St. Gregory School Families!

It is my pleasure to welcome you all to the 2019-2020 school year. The teachers and staff are excited and look forward to the beginning of a new year. I am delighted for the opportunities that await your children this year; your child is attending a school with a tradition of excellence.

Everyone at St. Gregory School is committed to ensuring that your child achieves academic excellence and a love for their faith. As you send your child to his/her new teacher, and for many to a new school, I hope that you will join me in setting high expectations. I expect challenging and engaging instruction along with regular communication from teachers and the school. We are transitioning away from the Bloomz app and the teachers will now be using Class Dojo. This is a classroom communication app used to share class activities between parents and teachers. The teachers will not be using the messaging or behavior system on this app; instead, it will be used primarily for classroom stories. Please communicate with the teachers through email or phone calls only.

Greetings St. Gregory School Families,

We are nearing the end of an incredible school year, so this will be my last family folder letter! This month will go by quickly and before you know it everyone will be on summer vacation. We have a lot going on during this last month of school.

Our 5th and 6th graders just came back from an exciting field trip to Camp Kon-O-Kwee; I thoroughly enjoyed the archery! In May, our 7th and 8th graders will venture out on their big field trip (location still to be determined). May Crowning will be on the 17th at 1:15pm in the church; this is a beautiful event venerating the Blessed Mother. The Kindergarten class will graduate on June 5th and our 8th graders will be graduating on the 8th. I want to say congratulations to all of our graduates! I also want to congratulate all of the kids who will receive their First Holy Communion this month. Finally, many students will participate at PJAS at Penn State with Mr. Dunker on May 20th. The Drama Play is May 9th at 1:30 and 7:00pm. Thank you to Mrs. Garcia, Aaron Sutton, Kelsey Smith, Mak Kirish, and Maddie Fiedler for their hard work with the students. Additionally, the Band concert takes place on the 16th. Please keep everyone in your prayers during this exciting time. I also have some exciting news: Baby Corcoran may be arriving sooner than expected! We are thrilled for the Corcoran family. I will be hiring a substitute teacher for 1st grade mid-May to finish out the year. I will also be hiring a long-term substitute for the 2019-2020 school year while Mrs. Corcoran is on maternity leave. Say prayers that the Holy Spirit sends me excellent candidates!

April Fools! Of course I couldn’t go a month without writing you a letter!

Easter break is right around the corner. I pray that your Easter is filled with happiness and quality family time. April will be a busy month and May will be here before we know it.

Saturday, April 1th is our annual Auction! This is our largest fundraiser, and I can’t begin to tell you the importance of this fundraiser in helping our school reach its $100,000 fundraising goal. This year’s theme is “Sock-Hop”. There will be casino games, class baskets, silent and live auctions, beer, wine, and hors d’oeurvres. You definitely do not want to miss this. Please bring your friends and family! Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard on this event

Greetings St. Gregory School Families,

Lenten Season is upon us so this will be a great time for all of us to reflect on what is good in our lives and realize how much He loves us. Easter will be here before we know it, and the month of March is filled with activities.

This week I sent out an email asking for help at our Super Bingo. I want to reiterate how crucial Bingo is to our fundraising efforts. I am asking that every family spends time at a few Bingos to help support the others who work so very hard. They especially need help during set-up and tear-down.

Greetings St. Gregory School Families!

We are in the midst of our annual Catholic Schools Week! This week is full of excitement. The students have enjoyed math games, movies, reading, the science fair, and more! The staff is just about to face-off with 8th grade for the annual volleyball game. Additionally, WTAE Channel 4 News may be coming to our school this week to highlight our successful “Project Bundle Up”. We all enjoy this week because it is a chance for us to show off our spirit and the many ways in which St. Gregory School reflects a “community of faith, knowledge, and service.” We create an atmosphere that sets the tone and allows visitors to feel the presence of Christ. With our focus on the values and virtues each week, this atmosphere is even more prominent.

Merry Christmas St. Gregory School Families!

'Tis the Season! What a wonderful time to reflect on our faith and spend quality time with our families. We are all so excited to celebrate this special month of the Immaculate Conception and our Savior's birthday. We will display the Advent Wreath and Jesse Tree beginning next week. Each day the kids will reflect and pray; this keeps the true meaning of Christmas at the forefront. It is my hope that we can all feel His presence during this busy season.

Happy Fall St. Gregory School Families,

We are just about a quarter of the way through the school year, and what a wonderful start it has been! October was a delightful month for all of us. Both volleyball and cross country ended with successful seasons, and basketball and cheerleading kicked off with Monday Madness. Additionally, the Great Pumpkin Race was a success again! Thank you to everyone who volunteered. For those of you who have children playing a sport, please refer to the Handbook in regards to academic eligibility. Mr. Dunker and I will be monitoring that closely. Also, a child who is absent during school is not permitted to play a sport the same evening.

The marking period officially ended Thursday, November 1st. On Monday, November 12th, we will hold parent-teacher conferences; the kids do not have school on this day. Please log into your OptionC account to schedule a conference. You will receive a notice if the time you selected needs to be changed. The teachers in the upper grades will be grouped together in the library. Everyone is allotted 15 minutes, so please be mindful of your time. If you feel you need more time, feel free to schedule a separate meeting with your child’s teacher.
